The 2022 Agave Amateur will be held December 16-19 at Shadow Hills Golf Club near Palm Desert, California. The Agave Amateur will be a Scratch Players and World Amateur Golf Rankings event. The Agave will be 54-holes with no cut (weather permitting). Included in the entry fee is all three rounds of the tournament as well as the practice round on Friday, December 16. The Agave is an established national golf championship event per NCAA rules.

EXEMPT and ENTRY Criteria: A player is exempt if he meets ONE of the entry criteria below AND submits a complete application (with payment) by November 1, 2022. All eligible players must have a minimum handicap of 3.0 or better in order to meet NCAA open event entry criteria.  

• Top 250 in closest ranking to November 1, 2022, of the Division I Golfstat or Golfweek rankings.
• Top 1500 players in Scratch Players World Amateur Golf Rankings
• Top 1000 players in World Amateur Golf Rankings
• Top 1000 players in Golfweek Amateur Rankings
• All 2022 champions of major men's state amateur and mid-amateur championships
• All participants in the men's 2022 US Mid-Amateur, USGA Four-Ball, and US Amateur Championships
• All Platinum level members in the 2022-23 Troon Saguaro Amateur Series

• Friday, December 16: Practice Round at Shadow Hills GC-reservation details below (first time at 9:00 am)
• Saturday, December 17:  Tee times off of 1/10 tees 7:30-9:40 am
• Sunday, December 18: Tee times off of 1/10 tees 7:30-9:40 am
• Monday, December 19: Tee times off 1/10 tees 7:30-9:40 am

GENERAL MEMBER:  $25-eligible to compete in all 2022-23 Troon Saguaro Amateur Series events
PLATINUM MEMBER:  $295-includes 10% tournament discount, exempt category, and exclusive 1-month priority registration windows
SPONSOR MEMBER:  $1,295-includes 1 sponsor exemption, 10% tournament discount, exempt category, and 1-month priority registration windows

Transportation: All participants are responsible for their own transportation to/from the event. Palm Springs International airport is approximately 25 minutes from the course. Plan all departure flights accordingly as no changes will be made to starting times for flights.

Carts: All participants will be provided double-rider carts and this is included in the entry fee. Caddies are allowed but will have to walk and may not ride on the back of carts. Carts are not required but are provided free of charge.  Players may walk.  A limited number of single-rider carts are available and may be purchased on the day of each round.  Specatator carts, IF AVAILABLE, will be extremely limited.  This will be the sole decision of Shadow Hills GC if spectator carts are available.  

Conduct and Attire: Golf spike policy of Shadow Hills Golf Club is in effect at the time of the championship. Proper golf attire is required. Golf shirt must have a collar and either pants or golf shorts are required. All headwear must be worn forward. Any act of unsportsmanlike conduct-including but not limited to: cursing, throwing clubs, damage to the golf course, or other are prohibited. Disqualification with no refund is possible at the sole discretion of the tournament committee.

Pace of Play: We ask that the first two players who hole out proceed immediately to the next tee and hit when ready. Walk ahead and save time when possible. In the practice round, no more than one ball should be played to the green. Play as fast as possible. If you are holding up play during the practice round, you may be asked to leave by the Shadow Hills/Agave Amateur staff.

Withdrawals and Refunds: All paid entries are subject to a $125 handling fee at all times. Refunds minus $125 are available up until December 6, 2022, when there are no refunds for withdrawal or no show for any reason.

Waiting List: A waiting list will be formed after the entry deadline of December 4th or when the event becomes full. Credit cards and checks WILL NOT be cashed until a player is confirmed entry off of the waiting list.
